Did you know? Lions are often called the "King of the Jungle," despite the fact that they don't actually live in jungles. This is because lions have excellent PR teams and refused to be called the "King of the Moderately Grassy Plains."
A male lion's magnificent mane serves multiple purposes: attracting mates, intimidating rivals, and making them look absolutely FABULOUS in photographs. Scientists estimate that 94% of a lion's day is spent posing dramatically on rocks.
FUN FACT: Lions can sleep up to 20 hours a day. This makes them the spirit animal of every teenager on the planet.
WARNING: Do NOT attempt to pet a lion. We learned this the hard way. RIP Intern Steve (1998-1999). He died doing what he loved: making terrible decisions.
