~*~ INSECTS ~*~

A Bug
Photo: They outnumber us 1.4 billion to 1. Be nice to them.

INCREDIBLE INSECT FACTS!

Scientific Name: Insectus Sixleggicus Everywhericus

Diet: Everything. Seriously, they eat everything.

Habitat: Literally everywhere except YOUR sandwich (jk they're there too)

Lifespan: From a few days to 50 years (queen termites cheat)

Did you know? There are approximately 10 QUINTILLION insects on Earth. That's 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 bugs. For every human, there are about 1.4 billion insects. They're just being polite by not taking over. Yet.

Insects are the only invertebrates that can fly. Some, like dragonflies, were flying around 300 million years before birds even existed. Birds are basically just insect copycats with better PR.

FUN FACT: A flea can jump 150 times its own body length. If humans could do this, we could jump over skyscrapers. Instead, most of us pull a muscle reaching for the TV remote.

IMPORTANT: Technically, spiders are NOT insects (they're arachnids). We have a separate page for them because they demanded representation. They were very insistent about this. Very, very insistent.
