FLUFFY CHINCHILLA FACTS!

Scientific Name: Chinchilla Flufficus Bouncicus

Diet: Hay, pellets, and the dreams of their enemies

Habitat: Andes Mountains, pet stores, Instagram accounts

Lifespan: 15-20 years of maximum fluffiness

Did you know? Chinchillas have the softest fur of any land mammal, with approximately 20,000 hairs per square centimeter. For comparison, humans have about 100 hairs per square centimeter, making us basically bald potato people by comparison.

Chinchillas take dust baths instead of water baths because water would make their luxurious fur clump together. They're basically tiny, furry aristocrats who are too fancy for regular bathing.

FUN FACT: Chinchillas can jump up to 6 feet in the air! This ability serves no evolutionary purpose - they just think it's fun. Scientists call this "boing energy."

WARNING: Chinchillas are crepuscular, meaning they're most active at dawn and dusk. They will judge you if you try to play with them at inappropriate times.
